Berlin has a thriving food scene that has changed dramatically in the past few years. When we did a quick research about the best foodie cities in Europe, most likely we will meet with Berlin first. San Marzano tomatoes are grown in the volcanic farmlands south of Mount Vesuvius, which give their unique flavour. It is hard to find food anywhere that so seamlessly mixes Eastern and Western cooking techniques. Kebab, doner, manti, borek, and of course pide are some of the well-known foods here. Combined with both the eastern and western cuisines, Istanbul has plenty of unique Turkish flavours. We all know that Istanbul is the first place that comes to mind when mentioned the best foodie cities in Europe. Known in Italy as La Grassa (the Fat One), you will find the best producers of parmigiano cheese, balsamic vinegar and parma ham nearby. It is the home of mortadella and ragu, but Bologna is still one of those under-the-radar cities that only serious foodies bother with. There is no doubt Bologna is one of the best foodie cities in Europe. You should certainly try this famous Spanish snack even if you are not hungry. ![]() Expect to see the streets of the old town overflowing after dark with hungry foodies on the hunt for pintxos, or also known as pincho. Stands out with having the world’s highest number of Michelin stars, San Sebastian is truly a food-lovers paradise. ![]()
